RICH FISHER'S DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE EXPERIENCE

1999 - Present
I currently work for the United States Department Of Commerce as an "Electronic Media Specialist". I work to promote the positive impact of the Commerce Department by getting the message out to the public via TV, Radio, and the web. I run a working TV studio that is used for live shots on national networks and local TV stations around the country, as well as for recorded content on the Commerce website and many others.
I set up large scale and small scale audio visual productions in house and on location, as well as record these functions for media outreach. I edit on an Avid system and shoot with Panasonic P2 Professional video cameras.
I work with the Office of Public Affairs to target specific markets for outreach, and work all aspects of the technical side to assure a flawless transmission. I coordinate with producers and the technical staff of major networks and local broadcasters for the best way to reach them and work with uplink facilities to reach them. I research specific TV markets for effectively getting the agencies message out in an immediate and cost effective way.
I produce internal videos for training purposes as well as documentation. Some of these videos are converted to web files and placed on the intra-net and others are converted to DVD for playback.
In the past I have managed the DOC "Radio-Line", a news service that fed information via telephone to radio networks and stations around the country. I interviewed newsmakers within the Commerce umbrella and edited the responses into sound bytes for stations to use in their news. The "Radio-Line" was replaced by simply sending out Mp3 files independently in press releases which I currently do.
