RICH FISHER'S GSN EXPERIENCE

GSN - "The Global Shopping Network"
1996 - 1997
GSN was a live Home Shopping Network clone based in Chelsea Studios NYC. The start up shopping network was seen in major
markets including Boston and Atlanta. The network went bust in 1997, and all employees were laid off. I produced shows,
meaning that I came up with entertaining ways to sell merchandise through live TV. I also worked on ways to promote the
network to its affiliates individual markets. If we were selling swimwear in January, we would target a warmer climate,
etc. I also was involved in the day-to-day operations aspect of GSN. I Technical Directed on a GVG-300 switcher, did
studio cameras, rolled tape, built Chyron, and floor managed. GSN looked the same as any other shopping network, but
the behind the scenes are really quite involved. It is running a 24-hour live show, basically. I also freelanced at
"The Maury Povich Show" which at that time was also in Chelsea Studios. At Maury, I rolled tape and did studio camera
when needed.
